MPOL Group December 2008 Newsletter
Welcome to the December edition of the MPOL Muse
It’s hard to believe that we’re in December already – the Christmas lights are going up and the office decorations are already up (and if you work in the MPOL office, the competition has begun for who has the most elaborate Christmas display (you know who you are Siham Psaila!).
With the arrival of December also comes the frantic pre-Christmas rush of investigations – and rest assured we have all resources on standby as we know how many urgent requests can be received over this period. We have experienced many times how pending factual investigations over the Christmas period can be seriously affected by both compulsory shut-downs and the usual Christmas holidays and we will have both MPOL office and investigation teams continuing to work throughout the Christmas and New Year period.
From all at the MPOL team, we wish you a very Merry Christmas with all our best wishes for a happy, safe and prosperous New Year!
MPOL fights Fraud: Rod Keuris
As many of our clients know, MPOL have a long and successful history of conducting large-scale fraud investigations and we are proud to announce the addition of Rod Keuris to our fraud investigation team.
Comcare and MPOL Group:
In addition to our active Comcare investigation practice, MPOL Group has been a member of the Comcare Fraud Investigation Panel since April, 2007. Our team of specifically trained and qualified investigators undertake regular factual and surveillance investigations for Comcare self insurers and solicitors in addition to the instructions provided directly by the Comcare Fraud Panel.
Stress claims – how to use surveillance effectively:
With the current preponderance of stress claims, the question often arises regarding how to provide useful observations on psychological injuries which can address concerns regarding the stated RTW capacities.
Accident Compensation Act Review:
The final recommendations of the Accident Compensation Act Review were released in August and have now had a regional consultation period. The review has come up with many interesting proposals – so many that the official ‘Guide to the Review’ weighs in at over 50 pages. However, we have picked out a select few of the proposals which have caught our attention:
A unique investigator
A successful investigation firm is, by the nature of the work we conduct, made up of a group of diverse and colourful characters. We'd like to pay tribute to one of our most enduring and successful factual investigators, Brian Forrest who turned 80 on the 1st December!
Our newest and proudest addition to the MPOL team:
We could not be happier to announce the arrival of the latest member of our team, Imogen Liana Smith – the gorgeous daughter of our own Monika Henke! Little Immy was born on 5th October, weighing in at a respectable 3.67 kg (8lb 1oz). The birth was, by mum’s own report, fast with no complications. Let the record show that we are not suggesting this means it was easy!
