Victoria – the safe state:
Based on recent WorkSafe results, Victoria is being promoted as the safest place to work. In the last Financial Year, Victoria experienced fewer than 30,000 workplace injury claims – for only the 2nd time since records began.
Victoria’s WorkCover scheme is fully funded and net profits were up from last year and stand at $1.1 billion.
The Chair of the Board, Elana Rubin praised the result as being achieved through strong safety and claims management performance along with healthy partnerships with stakeholders and the wider Victorian community.
The current results mean that WorkSafe’s funding now has a funding ratio of 134% which includes payments of more than $1.1 billion in total compensation payments for injured workers.
